Aliens
at my Birth!?
by Tom
Connelly, D.Hyp, FBSCH
I'm
sure I'm not the only hypnotherapist who feels uneasy when a patient begins
to access memories in regression that do not fit into the usual context
of reality. My uneasiness might turn to alarm if I found that the patient
involved had begun to believe in 'the experience' that had been brought
to consciousness and was giving it a special significance.
The popular modern confabulation seems to be along
the lines of an alien abduction scenario, which may seem all the more
convincing when several cases are considered together and found to have
many elements in common. What are these elements?
Patients have reported:
- being
taken from their familiar surroundings into an unfamiliar one
- being
surrounded by alien beings
- being
probed with tools or medical type instruments
- being
drugged / experiencing perceptual distortions
- being
bound or restrained in some way
- strange
smells and environmental changes
- experiencing
unspeakable terror
I
must admit to having been subjected to all of these horrifying experiences
myself and I feel I can now reveal their source: BIRTH TRAUMA. Being born
supplies us with the classic alien abduction scenario as we are transmitted
from one environment to another and into the hands of beings we have no
means of explaining. This traumatic memory is stored without a linguistic
context (we are not born with the power to describe the experience) but
is available in the right circumstances (hypnosis / altered state) to
'become explained' in a 'fashionable' way. Of course it is quite possible
that the men in black are behind this theory!
